live unleashedI can still remember the first time I was irritated about not being able to find a mentor. I was on active duty and was seeking to apply for the Naval Academy to become a commissioned officer. My BIG dream at the time was to be able to find someone who had the Navy career, marriage and kids. I searched high and low and found no one that had it all.

After having my son I knew my heart could not handle deployment and leaving my family so, I decided to separate from the military. Again I found myself seeking to find a mentor who had a thriving career, marriage and kids.

This endless cycle went on for years and through many different season in life. Honestly, I was tired of being the first in many of my adventures. I always felt like I was fighting the glass ceiling and seeking to do it with balance. I wanted to have it all and I just wanted a mentor to guide me, encourage me and help me on my journey.

Have you struggled with finding a mentor in your life?

Have you been seeking someone to encourage you on your journey?

What if we have NOT been taught the most key mentor we can have in life is within ourselves?

Your dreams, desires and the mentor you are looking for is inside of you!!!!

Our inner mentors don’t ask us to strive more, work harder, or push. Instead, they show us a simpler, easier, but highly effective- and authentic- way forward. -Tara Mohr

This idea of an inner mentor just blew me away. As I have been digging deeper within myself I have come to realize that we can all live unleashed. We can live free from searching, free from hustling and free from feeling restricted by EVERYTHING (self-doubt, fear, and expectations).

The cool thing about this amazing idea is that it confirmed something that happened last week in my therapy session. After sharing something very painful from my past my therapist guided me to look deep inside myself and see all the positive things that came from that experience. Through this process I was able to rewrite the pain and triggers with the positive.

You see inside of us is a greater being.

A stronger self.

A more imaginative person.

We just have to seek, listen and explore our inner lives.

It’s a failure of imagination. If people haven’t been taught how to use their creativity, how to imagine, then they can’t create a dramatically different reality than what they know today, because they can’t imagine it. -Judith Komoroske

This struggle within me is something I could have turned from or it was something I could have explored.

I was taught to file away the bad things and focus on the good but, what I am realizing is we do NOT have to stay locked up and hidden from the pain. We can in fact become unleashed from it and learn to live a more healthy and freeing life.

As we begin to trust in the process we can learn to let go and explore a wider space in life. A more freeing space to live authentic and real in this world of masks.

I don’t know about you but, I want to live unleashed. I want to explore my creativity. I want to rewrite the pain that has kept me stuck in destructive behavior. I want to be free to be the best version of myself.

My hope is to encourage other women to dig deep never giving up on healing, releasing, exploring and growing in their lives!

Father God thank you for this journey. Thank you for guiding me and leading me to this place of healing. This place of empowerment and freedom. Help me to live unleashed and guide me to encourage and empower other women to live their authentic selves. Amen.

I highly recommend Tara Mohr’s book Playing Big: Practical Wisdom for Women Who Want to Speak Up, Create, and Lead!
