Don’t we all have those nagging negative judgmental annoying voices in our heads?
I do not know about you but, it is a daily struggle to silence those voices in my head. And sadly the voices are not just about one topic or thing… there are no boundaries with them in my head.
She does not like you anymore.
You really have worked hard… go ahead and have that donut.
It’s okay you can sleep in and take the day off from working out.
Maybe you said something wrong?!
He’s going to eventually leave you… everyone does.
They really do not like you… they are pretending.
I could literally go on for days with the crazy thoughts that go through my head. But, truth be told all of these thoughts are rooted in insecurities. All of these thoughts are about not feeling good enough or feeling like you belong.
Our desire to fit in is not about popularity but, about feeling like we belong.
Our desires to fit in is not about being liked but, about being accepted for who we are.
Insecurities will rear their ugly head just when you thought you had it under control.
The truth is a lot of us think we do not fit or that we need to change something to find acceptance.
We really need to work on silencing the enemy swarming our thoughts.
We really need to start taking back control of our self loathing and turn it into self-love.
It is okay to be different… actually it is better than okay. God created you just the way you are and you do not have to change a thing about your personality to belong.
Do not allow those voices to keep you from reaching out to a friend.
Do not allow those voices to cause you to shrink back.
Do not allow those voices to taint the truth about who God made you to be in the world.
You are beautiful.
You are enough.
You are loved.
You are valued.
Live in these realities and tell those negative judgmental annoying voices to go away because they are NOT welcome anymore.
Father God help us to silence the negative voices in our heads. Give us strength to live in Your truth. Help us to show grace to those who are struggling with insecurities. Help us to shine the light in this dark and judgemental world. Thank you. Amen.
